Laser

A spatially structured diagram of mathematical precision where geometric abstraction meets the fragmented temporality of early video games. At first glance, it evokes the memory of a video game level the visual result of a generative program that determines a path through misaligned obstacles. A single continuous red line a unifying element descends from top to bottom in a succession of perfect right angles. Its path is not free-form: it is the exact map of a predetermined route, a laser beam cutting through the levels of the painting as if it were an ’80s video game screen. The work is intended as a metaphor for the contemporary condition: we live in highly structured, digital systems; life itself has become modular, imprisoned by the algorithms that govern it; yet within these systems flows an individual, emotional, or energetic current that seeks a possible passage through constraints, rules, and algorithms; a nostalgic note: the memory of when the world of bits was still a game and a promise, not just control and surveillance.
